Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Utilities and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.22%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which rose 4.19% or 0.850 points to trade at 21.160 at the close. Accor SA (PA:ACCP) added 2.10% or 0.93 points to end at 45.22 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 1.93% or 2.20 points to 115.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN), which lost 2.38% or 1.80 points to trade at 73.80 in late trade. Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) declined 2.06% or 0.250 points to end at 11.905 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) shed 1.79% or 0.97 points to 53.12.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which rose 4.19% to 21.160, ALD SA (PA:ALDA) which was up 2.79% to settle at 15.10 and Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which gained 2.51% to close at 81.800.
The worst performers were Eramet (PA:ERMT) which was down 9.39% to 135.10 in late trade, Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which lost 6.09% to settle at 35.33 and Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was down 4.97% to 6.998 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 308 to 257 and 104 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.77% to 13.73.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.52% or 6.70 to $1304.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.36% or 0.23 to hit $64.98 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.45% or 0.34 to trade at $74.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.15% to 1.1716, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.8754.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 93.86.
