Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Utilities and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.21%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA), which rose 1.85% or 0.092 points to trade at 5.072 at the close. Orange SA (PA:ORAN) added 1.74% or 0.23 points to end at 13.76 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 1.14% or 1.10 points to 97.39 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 1.94% or 0.105 points to trade at 5.315 in late trade. Technip (PA:TECF) declined 1.72% or 0.88 points to end at 50.23 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) shed 1.32% or 0.25 points to 18.64.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Amundi SA (PA:AMUN) which rose 2.28% to 46.95, Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) which was up 1.85% to settle at 5.072 and Altran Technologies (PA:ALTT) which gained 1.79% to close at 13.665.
The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 9.77% to 23.910 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 5.03% to settle at 3.680 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) which was down 4.97% to 59.08 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 437 to 228 and 122 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.57% to 19.77.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.05% or 14.05 to $1330.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.53% or 1.62 to hit $44.31 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 3.46% or 1.66 to trade at $46.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1216, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.8616.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 95.40.
