Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.14%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PA:PRTP), which rose 2.59% or 12.70 points to trade at 503.60 at the close. Atos SE (PA:ATOS) added 2.00% or 2.30 points to end at 117.55 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) was up 1.81% or 5.45 points to 306.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which lost 8.60% or 1.770 points to trade at 18.810 in late trade. Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) declined 2.95% or 1.43 points to end at 47.12 and Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) shed 2.33% or 0.49 points to 20.52.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which rose 9.22% to 161.10, Edenred (PA:EDEN) which was up 7.39% to settle at 33.86 and Technicolor (PA:TCH) which gained 7.18% to close at 1.150.
The worst performers were Eramet (PA:ERMT) which was down 16.08% to 91.30 in late trade, STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which lost 8.60% to settle at 18.810 and Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which was down 3.86% to 71.000 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 303 to 258 and 112 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.44% to 13.03.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.30% or 3.70 to $1229.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.50% or 1.03 to hit $69.55 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.89% or 0.65 to trade at $74.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1679, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8883.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 94.32.
