Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.12%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP), which rose 3.38% or 4.15 points to trade at 127.00 at the close. Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) added 1.91% or 0.27 points to end at 14.41 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was up 1.53% or 0.73 points to 48.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF), which lost 7.52% or 8.45 points to trade at 103.90 in late trade. EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) declined 4.45% or 8.85 points to end at 189.85 and Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) shed 1.89% or 1.82 points to 94.24.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which rose 12.79% to 1.25, Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which was up 6.58% to settle at 0.52 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) which gained 4.59% to close at 33.94.
The worst performers were Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) which was down 7.52% to 103.90 in late trade, EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) which lost 4.45% to settle at 189.85 and Virbac SA (EPA:VIRB) which was down 3.45% to 349.50 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 263 to 233 and 98 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.04% or 0.90 to $2,466.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.06% or 1.64 to hit $81.35 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.58% or 1.32 to trade at $85.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 103.54.
