Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.12%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR), which rose 3.56% or 0.374 points to trade at 10.866 at the close. Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) added 3.09% or 0.96 points to end at 32.04 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was up 2.83% or 1.61 points to 58.49 in late trade.
Biggest losers included STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which lost 6.62% or 0.935 points to trade at 13.195 in late trade. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 3.29% or 5.04 points to end at 147.96 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) shed 2.94% or 3.90 points to 128.55.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Trigano SA (PA:TRIA) which rose 3.85% to 70.10, Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which was up 3.68% to settle at 19.70 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) which gained 3.56% to close at 10.866.
The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 8.95% to 19.940 in late trade, STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which lost 6.62% to settle at 13.195 and Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which was down 4.01% to 7.18 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 283 to 275 and 103 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.92% to 16.04.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.40% or 5.25 to $1316.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.97% or 0.58 to hit $59.36 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.26 to trade at $67.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.07% to 1.1256, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.8507.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 96.363.
