Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the CAC Banks, CAC CAC Oil & Gas Producers and CAC Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.29%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA), which rose 3.44% or 0.105 points to trade at 3.157 at the close. Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) added 1.91% or 1.30 points to end at 69.45 and Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) was up 1.76% or 2.15 points to 124.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN), which lost 2.75% or 1.02 points to trade at 36.20 in late trade. BNP Paribas Act. A (PARIS:BNPP) declined 2.75% or 1.34 points to end at 47.50 and Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR) shed 1.82% or 0.200 points to 10.785.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Artprice Com (PARIS:ARTF) which rose 9.64% to 15.35, Solocal Group (PARIS:LOCAL) which was up 5.56% to settle at 0.760 and Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA) which gained 3.44% to close at 3.157.
The worst performers were STMicroelectronics (PARIS:STM) which was down 2.87% to 7.147 in late trade, BNP Paribas Act. A (PARIS:BNPP) which lost 2.75% to settle at 47.50 and Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN) which was down 2.75% to 36.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 491 to 401 and 55 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.65% to 21.20.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.42% or 5.40 to $1287.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March fell 2.83% or 1.31 to hit $44.92 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract fell 1.60% or 0.80 to trade at $48.80 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.1357, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.7486.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 94.44.
