Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Automobiles & Parts and Foods & Drugs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 4.14%, while the SBF 120 index added 4.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alcatel Lucent SA (PARIS:ALUA), which rose 7.05% or 0.195 points to trade at 2.960 at the close. Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) added 6.52% or 4.50 points to end at 73.53 and Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) was up 6.49% or 0.94 points to 15.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Electricite de France SA (PARIS:EDF), which added 1.63% or 0.30 points to trade at 19.05 in late trade. Legrand SA (PARIS:LEGD) added 2.36% or 1.16 points to end at 50.13 and Schneider Electric SE (PARIS:SCHN) gained 2.48% or 1.34 points to 55.33.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Adocia (PARIS:ADOC) which rose 11.16% to 81.870, Innate Pharma (PARIS:IPH) which was up 8.73% to settle at 12.580 and CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which gained 8.46% to close at 3.63.
The worst performers were Elis Services SA (PARIS:ELIS) which was down 0.36% to 13.94 in late trade, Coface (PARIS:COFA) which gained 0.12% to settle at 8.40 and Rexel (PARIS:RXL) which was up 0.74% to 13.56 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 704 to 127 and 43 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 18.94% to 31.62.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.46% or 16.80 to $1136.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.32% or 1.27 to hit $39.51 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.98% or 0.84 to trade at $43.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.82% to 1.1408, while EUR/GBP fell 1.33% to 0.7268.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.37% at 94.66.
