Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, General Retailers and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 3.54%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 3.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which rose 8.65% or 0.41 points to trade at 5.19 at the close. Technip (PARIS:TECF) added 7.55% or 3.29 points to end at 46.78 and Accor SA (PARIS:ACCP) was up 5.33% or 2.24 points to 44.26 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Valeo SA (PARIS:VLOF), which added 0.32% or 0.40 points to trade at 125.05 in late trade. Veolia Environnement VE SA (PARIS:VIE) added 0.42% or 0.085 points to end at 20.495 and Alstom SA (PARIS:ALSO) gained 1.05% or 0.29 points to 28.27.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) which rose 13.33% to 4.07, ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) which was up 8.65% to settle at 5.19 and Technip (PARIS:TECF) which gained 7.55% to close at 46.78.
The worst performers were Nexity (PARIS:NEXI) which was down 2.39% to 37.73 in late trade, Coface (PARIS:COFA) which lost 0.63% to settle at 7.90 and Neopost (PARIS:NPOS) which was up 0.26% to 20.95 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 563 to 164 and 47 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.65% to 27.42.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.30% or 3.40 to $1133.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.44% or 1.11 to hit $46.65 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.88% or 1.39 to trade at $49.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.1180, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.7384.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 96.27.
