Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the General Retailers, Personal Goods and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.67%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 1.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP), which rose 5.61% or 8.05 points to trade at 151.65 at the close. Technip (PARIS:TECF) added 3.86% or 1.69 points to end at 45.48 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH) was up 3.77% or 5.65 points to 155.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Alstom SA (PARIS:ALSO), which added 0.14% or 0.04 points to trade at 28.50 in late trade. Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) added 0.16% or 0.03 points to end at 15.75 and AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) gained 0.22% or 0.05 points to 22.45.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP) which rose 5.61% to 151.65, Remy Cointreau (PARIS:RCOP) which was up 5.24% to settle at 53.60 and Ubisoft Entertainment (PARIS:UBIP) which gained 4.96% to close at 17.050.
The worst performers were Zodiac Aerospace (PARIS:ZODC) which was down 18.81% to 22.84 in late trade, Eramet (PARIS:ERMT) which lost 5.89% to settle at 36.35 and Virbac (PARIS:VIRB) which was down 5.38% to 178.35 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 440 to 285 and 55 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.28% to 26.32.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.88% or 20.70 to $1123.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 5.88% or 2.62 to hit $47.21 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 4.32% or 2.06 to trade at $49.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.1316, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.7304.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 95.33.
