Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.59% to hit a new 6-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Technip (PA:TECF), which rose 5.37% or 3.33 points to trade at 65.36 at the close. Total SA (PA:TOTF) added 2.36% or 1.03 points to end at 44.95 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 1.94% or 2.05 points to 107.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP), which lost 1.70% or 1.29 points to trade at 74.50 in late trade. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 1.26% or 2.65 points to end at 208.25 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) shed 0.87% or 0.52 points to 59.36.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which rose 14.36% to 13.6200, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 10.47% to settle at 5.319 and Technip (PA:TECF) which gained 5.37% to close at 65.36.
The worst performers were Eurofins Scientific (PA:EUFI) which was down 3.97% to 412.95 in late trade, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which lost 2.47% to settle at 5.089 and SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which was down 2.43% to 126.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 386 to 302 and 101 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.12% to 19.88.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 1.26% or 14.95 to $1175.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 8.53% or 3.86 to hit $49.09 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 8.92% or 4.22 to trade at $51.54 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.55% to 1.0591, while EUR/GBP fell 0.56% to 0.8477.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.59% at 101.58.
