Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 2.15%, while the SBF 120 index added 2.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Atos SE (PA:ATOS), which rose 6.41% or 4.36 points to trade at 72.36 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) added 5.91% or 8.30 points to end at 148.80 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was up 4.65% or 0.81 points to 18.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Valeo SA (PA:VLOF), which added 0.36% or 0.09 points to trade at 25.10 in late trade. Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) added 0.48% or 2.30 points to end at 481.30 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) gained 0.84% or 0.16 points to 19.35.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which rose 11.31% to 27.960, Atos SE (PA:ATOS) which was up 6.41% to settle at 72.36 and Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) which gained 5.91% to close at 148.80.
The worst performers were GTT (PA:GTT) which was down 3.85% to 65.00 in late trade, Eiffage (PA:FOUG) which lost 0.93% to settle at 74.92 and Plastic Omnium (PA:PLOF) which was down 0.70% to 19.27 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 411 to 188 and 76 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 6.66% to 19.51.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.19% or 2.40 to $1249.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.91% or 0.47 to hit $52.12 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.10% or 0.66 to trade at $60.86 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1363, while EUR/GBP fell 0.82% to 0.8989.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 97.032.
