Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.75% to hit a new 52-week high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP), which rose 2.23% or 3.60 points to trade at 165.00 at the close. Atos SE (PA:ATOS) added 2.11% or 1.58 points to end at 76.48 and Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) was up 2.10% or 1.90 points to 92.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which lost 2.74% or 3.65 points to trade at 129.60 in late trade. Total SA (PA:TOTF) declined 0.96% or 0.47 points to end at 49.12 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) shed 0.95% or 0.17 points to 17.20.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which rose 9.34% to 16.850, Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was up 3.67% to settle at 72.380 and Eiffage SA (PA:FOUG) which gained 3.17% to close at 91.00.
The worst performers were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was down 3.68% to 26.18 in late trade, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which lost 2.93% to settle at 38.45 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which was down 2.74% to 129.60 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 333 to 232 and 91 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 5.66% to 12.16.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.82% or 11.55 to $1419.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.84% or 0.47 to hit $56.72 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.33% or 0.83 to trade at $63.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1281, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8972.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 96.325.
