Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.71%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.74% or 0.600 points to trade at 22.495 at the close. Safran SA (PA:SAF) added 1.44% or 1.18 points to end at 83.27 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) was up 1.33% or 0.76 points to 57.97 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI), which lost 0.52% or 0.55 points to trade at 106.00 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 0.14% or 0.02 points to end at 14.08 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) 0.00% or 0.00 points to 14.33.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Rexel (PA:RXL) which rose 4.29% to 13.26, Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which was up 2.87% to settle at 51.200 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which gained 2.74% to close at 22.495.
The worst performers were Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) which was down 0.52% to 106.00 in late trade, Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which lost 0.37% to settle at 29.540 and Amundi SA (PA:AMUN) which was down 0.31% to 66.89 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 396 to 179 and 105 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.35% to 13.16.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.17% or 2.22 to $1277.48 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.74% or 0.35 to hit $47.20 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.35% or 0.18 to trade at $50.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.36% to 1.1692, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.9103.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 93.99.
