Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.70%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM), which rose 2.58% or 0.37 points to trade at 14.72 at the close. Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) added 2.55% or 6.50 points to end at 261.00 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) was up 2.49% or 16.40 points to 674.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thales (EPA:TCFP), which lost 0.77% or 1.15 points to trade at 148.65 in late trade. Air Liquide SA (EPA:AIRP) declined 0.29% or 0.48 points to end at 165.40 and EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) shed 0.28% or 0.60 points to 211.60.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 11.62% to 3.78, Ayvens SA (EPA:AYV) which was up 4.18% to settle at 6.11 and Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which gained 3.21% to close at 1.51.
The worst performers were Clariane SE (EPA:CLARI) which was down 10.10% to 1.80 in late trade, Emeis SA (EPA:EMEIS) which lost 6.82% to settle at 9.53 and Nexans SA (EPA:NEXS) which was down 2.25% to 117.40 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 297 to 202 and 89 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.19% or 4.80 to $2,542.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.89% or 1.43 to hit $74.11 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.90% or 1.51 to trade at $78.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 101.81.
