Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.52% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which rose 4.10% or 0.640 points to trade at 16.240 at the close. TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) added 2.48% or 0.56 points to end at 23.16 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) was up 2.28% or 0.240 points to 10.785 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX), which lost 1.00% or 1.15 points to trade at 113.60 in late trade. Renault SA (PA:RENA) declined 0.76% or 0.42 points to end at 54.87 and Thales (PA:TCFP) shed 0.69% or 0.75 points to 107.90.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which rose 7.76% to 2.723, CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was up 7.47% to settle at 1.776 and DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which gained 4.47% to close at 15.430.
The worst performers were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was down 2.90% to 27.77 in late trade, Dassault Aviation SA (PA:AVMD) which lost 2.61% to settle at 1231.00 and Ipsos (PA:ISOS) which was down 2.16% to 22.70 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 351 to 232 and 82 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 12.02% to 12.18 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.72% or 24.35 to $1389.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.29% or 0.17 to hit $58.64 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.04 to trade at $64.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.65% to 1.1295, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.8939.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.71% at 96.347.
