Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financials, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.36% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR), which rose 3.34% or 0.319 points to trade at 9.859 at the close. Societe Generale (PA:SOGN) added 2.93% or 1.01 points to end at 35.72 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 2.03% or 1.05 points to 52.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Technip (PA:TECF), which lost 2.81% or 1.75 points to trade at 60.53 in late trade. Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) declined 1.19% or 1.25 points to end at 103.65 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) shed 1.10% or 0.70 points to 62.77.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ingenico Group (PA:INGC) which rose 4.92% to 76.80, Amundi SA (PA:AMUN) which was up 4.01% to settle at 45.49 and Natixis (PA:CNAT) which gained 3.42% to close at 4.593.
The worst performers were Sartorius Stedim Biotech (PA:STDM) which was down 4.81% to 64.36 in late trade, JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which lost 3.42% to settle at 27.36 and Technip (PA:TECF) which was down 2.81% to 60.53 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 364 to 327 and 99 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 5.09% to 17.24.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.34% or 4.25 to $1263.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.06% or 1.05 to hit $49.80 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.07% or 1.07 to trade at $50.71 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.0882, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8921.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 98.77.
