Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banks, Oil & Gas and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.09%, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN), which rose 4.60% or 1.66 points to trade at 37.66 at the close. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) added 4.21% or 0.36 points to end at 8.90 and Gemalto (AMS:GTO) was up 3.75% or 2.37 points to 65.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pernod Ricard (PARIS:PERP), which lost 2.00% or 2.15 points to trade at 105.55 in late trade. L'Oreal (PARIS:OREP) declined 1.24% or 1.95 points to end at 155.75 and GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) shed 0.68% or 0.14 points to 19.70.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which rose 7.71% to 22.14, Iliad (PARIS:ILD) which was up 4.63% to settle at 214.50 and Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN) which gained 4.60% to close at 37.66.
The worst performers were Innate Pharma (PARIS:IPH) which was down 2.43% to 9.640 in late trade, Pernod Ricard (PARIS:PERP) which lost 2.00% to settle at 105.55 and Hermes International SCA (PARIS:HRMS) which was down 1.40% to 288.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 632 to 276 and 46 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.41% to 21.57.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 1.41% or 18.00 to $1258.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 3.17% or 1.57 to hit $51.14 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 2.60% or 1.43 to trade at $56.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.16% to 1.1474, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.7577.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.01% at 93.86.
