Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Media, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.10%, while the MDAX index fell 0.16%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p), which rose 2.80% or 2.760 points to trade at 101.400 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 1.76% or 0.200 points to end at 11.595 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 1.46% or 0.275 points to 19.160 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING), which lost 1.54% or 2.550 points to trade at 163.200 in late trade. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) declined 1.47% or 1.190 points to end at 79.490 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) shed 1.31% or 0.175 points to 13.195.
The top performers on the MDAX were STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which rose 2.82% to 35.505, Leoni AG NA O.N. (DE:LEOGn) which was up 2.63% to settle at 36.035 and Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which gained 2.62% to close at 25.055.
The worst performers were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which was down 1.60% to 49.625 in late trade, Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which lost 1.52% to settle at 51.750 and Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXId) which was down 1.40% to 75.190 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which rose 6.25% to 8.256, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 3.03% to settle at 48.000 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which gained 2.71% to close at 53.820.
The worst performers were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was down 3.39% to 10.400 in late trade, Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which lost 3.17% to settle at 105.400 and PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (DE:PSAGn) which was down 3.03% to 13.420 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 355 to 331 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.84% to 21.00.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.15% or 1.60 to $1067.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.01% or 0.41 to hit $40.26 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.10% or 0.04 to trade at $43.52 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.0637, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.6992.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 99.83.
