Investing.com – China equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Media, Travel & Leisure and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite lost 0.51%, while the SZSE Component index lost 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Yaxing Chem (SS:600319), which rose 10.10% or 0.500 points to trade at 5.450 at the close. Jiangsu Yulong Steel Pipe Co Ltd (SS:601028) added 10.03% or 0.590 points to end at 6.470 and Hangzhou TianMuShan Pharmaceutical Enterprise Co Ltd (SS:600671) was up 10.02% or 1.74 points to 19.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henan Oriental Silver Star Investment Co Ltd (SS:600753), which lost 10.01% or 2.11 points to trade at 18.96 in late trade. Ningxia Xinri Hengli Steel Wire Rope Co Ltd (SS:600165) declined 9.94% or 0.700 points to end at 6.340 and Tianjin Quanyechang Group Co Ltd (SS:600821) shed 7.62% or 0.330 points to 4.000.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Yunnan Chuangxin New Material Co Ltd (SZ:002812) which rose 10.00% to 44.22, Hedy Holding Co Ltd (SZ:002027) which was up 9.96% to settle at 10.93 and Beijing Zhong Ke San Huan High-Tech Co Ltd (SZ:000970) which gained 5.37% to close at 10.20.
The worst performers were Gci Science & Technology Co Ltd (SZ:002544) which was down 10.01% to 12.76 in late trade, Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Co Ltd (SZ:000792) which lost 9.99% to settle at 8.83 and Huawen Media Investment Corp (SZ:000793) which was down 9.97% to 5.51 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1089 to 292 and 39 ended unchanged on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.98.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.61% or 7.50 to $1220.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.61% or 0.41 to hit $67.34 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.74% or 0.54 to trade at $72.36 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.44% to 6.7516, while EUR/CNY rose 0.23% to 7.8422.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 95.12.
