China shares higher at close of trade; Shanghai Composite up 4.91%

Investing.com – China equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Software & Computer Services, Technology and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite added 4.91%, while the SZSE Component index gained 6.45%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Sundy Land Inv (SS:600077), which rose 10.11% or 0.470 points to trade at 5.120 at the close. Rebecca (SS:600439) added 10.10% or 0.490 points to end at 5.340 and Hongda (SS:600331) was up 10.10% or 0.530 points to 5.780 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Strong Year (SS:600291), which lost 10.01% or 2.680 points to trade at 24.080 in late trade. Routon Elect (SS:600355) declined 10.01% or 1.360 points to end at 12.230 and Aerospace Elec (SS:600879) shed 10.00% or 2.450 points to 22.050.

The top performers on the SZSE Component were Tianjin Jinbin Development (SZ:000897) which rose 10.13% to 4.35, Luxi Chemical Group Co Ltd (SZ:000830) which was up 10.09% to settle at 5.89 and Tongyu Heavy Industry (SZ:300185) which gained 10.08% to close at 6.55.

The worst performers were Wuhan Guide Infrared Co Ltd (SZ:002414) which was down 10.01% to 28.69 in late trade, Guangdong Advertising Co Ltd (SZ:002400) which lost 10.00% to settle at 20.61 and Renhe Pharmacy Co Ltd (SZ:000650) which was down 9.99% to 12.52 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 943 to 11 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 3.71% to 45.72.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.44% or 4.80 to $1107.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.17% or 0.52 to hit $45.11 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.39 to trade at $48.14 a barrel.

USD/CNY was down 0.00% to 6.3699, while EUR/CNY fell 0.13% to 7.1693.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.82.
