Investing.com – China equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Mobile and Life Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite rose 2.44%, while the SZSE Component index added 2.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Bj North Star (SS:601588), which rose 10.06% or 0.650 points to trade at 7.110 at the close. Shenma Indu (SS:600810) added 10.06% or 0.840 points to end at 9.190 and Huading Nylon (SS:601113) was up 10.05% or 0.820 points to 8.980 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Teamsun Tech (SS:600410), which lost 10.01% or 4.310 points to trade at 38.750 in late trade. Sinomach Auto (SS:600335) declined 3.70% or 1.130 points to end at 29.400 and Xinhua Commer (SS:600785) shed 2.00% or 0.590 points to 28.900.
The top performers on the SZSE Component were Shan Dong Sun Paper Industry Joint Stock Co Ltd (SZ:002078) which rose 10.04% to 5.81, Sichuan Kelun Pharmaceutical Co Ltd (SZ:002422) which was up 10.03% to settle at 21.95 and Cofco Biochemical Anhui Co Ltd (SZ:000930) which gained 10.03% to close at 18.76.
The worst performers were PetroChina Jinhong Energy Investment Co Ltd (SZ:000669) which was down 9.99% to 33.95 in late trade, Guangdong Electric Power Development Co Ltd (SZ:000539) which lost 3.74% to settle at 10.04 and Zhongli Science and Technology Group Co Ltd (SZ:002309) which was down 3.14% to 26.20 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 959 to 15 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.
The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was down 2.50% to 26.51 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.48% or 5.20 to $1096.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.36% or 0.17 to hit $49.37 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $56.10 a barrel.
USD/CNY was up 0.00% to 6.2096, while EUR/CNY rose 0.40% to 6.8166.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.45% at 97.18.
