China shares higher at close of trade; Shanghai Composite up 0.43%

Investing.com – China equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Retailers, Software & Computer Services and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Shanghai, the Shanghai Composite rose 0.43% to hit a new 3-year high, while the SZSE Component index gained 0.23%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Shanghai Composite were Jinbei Automot (SS:600609), which rose 10.09% or 0.580 points to trade at 6.330 at the close. Nine Dragon-A (SS:600555) added 10.07% or 0.72 points to end at 7.87 and Founder Tech (SS:600601) was up 10.05% or 0.920 points to 10.070 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Boyuan Investm (SS:600656), which lost 5.01% or 0.340 points to trade at 6.440 in late trade. Xin Nanyang (SS:600661) declined 3.49% or 1.730 points to end at 47.900 and Start Group (SS:600734) shed 3.18% or 0.290 points to 8.820.

The top performers on the SZSE Component were Zhejiang Dahua Technology Co Ltd (SZ:002236) which rose 7.36% to 39.97, Goertek Inc (SZ:002241) which was up 4.53% to settle at 35.31 and BYD Co Ltd (SZ:002594) which gained 3.82% to close at 59.84.

The worst performers were Suzhou Gold Mantis Construction Decoration Co Ltd (SZ:002081) which was down 4.18% to 34.40 in late trade, TCL Corp (SZ:000100) which lost 2.06% to settle at 6.19 and China Merchants Property Development Co Ltd (SZ:000024) which was down 1.51% to 31.96 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 717 to 250 on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The CBOE China Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Shanghai Composite options, was up 3.12% to 23.12.

In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.13% or 1.60 to $1206.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.00% or 0.01 to hit $50.09 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.10 to trade at $57.20 a barrel.

USD/CNY was down 0.00% to 6.1970, while EUR/CNY rose 0.57% to 6.7114.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.55% at 97.98.
