Investing.com – Mexico equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Materials, Telecoms Services and Healthcare sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC declined 1.53% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Simec, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:SIMECB), which rose 1.83% or 0.710 points to trade at 39.460 at the close. Controladora Comercial Mexicana UBC (MX:COMEUBC) added 1.31% or 0.680 points to end at 52.490 and Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX) was up 0.97% or 0.190 points to 19.830 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which lost 4.61% or 9.740 points to trade at 201.390 in late trade. Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEX) declined 3.42% or 1.540 points to end at 43.460 and Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) shed 3.01% or 1.280 points to 41.190.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 94 to 65 and 10 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.82% or 8.70 to $1064.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.32% or 0.14 to hit $41.58 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.90% or 0.41 to trade at $44.45 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.28% to 16.5812, while EUR/MXN fell 0.46% to 17.5311.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 100.23.
