Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Industrials and REITs sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.44% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Innergex Renewable Energy Inc . (TSX:INE), which rose 2.32% or 0.24 points to trade at 10.59 at the close. Lundin Mining Corporation (TSX:LUN) added 1.94% or 0.28 points to end at 14.75 and Boralex Inc (TSX:BLX) was up 1.82% or 0.61 points to 34.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Canfor Corporation (TSX:CFP), which lost 2.89% or 0.43 points to trade at 14.44 in late trade. Interfor Corp (TSX:IFP) declined 2.83% or 0.51 points to end at 17.49 and Brookfield Corp (TSX:BN) shed 2.56% or 1.45 points to 55.29.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 601 to 317 and 120 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 4.03% to 10.85.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.18% or 4.20 to $2,342.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.09% or 0.07 to hit $80.64 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $85.27 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.03% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 104.88.
