Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, IT and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. (TSX:TRQ), which rose 8.47% or 0.050 points to trade at 0.640 at the close. MAG Silver Corp (TSX:MAG) added 6.63% or 0.99 points to end at 15.92 and IAMGold Corporation (TSX:IMG) was up 5.41% or 0.270 points to 5.260 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Osisko Gold Ro (TSX:OR), which lost 9.96% or 1.62 points to trade at 14.64 in late trade. First Quantum Minerals Ltd . (TSX:FM) declined 9.66% or 1.18 points to end at 11.03 and Western Forest Products Inc (TSX:WEF) shed 5.11% or 0.070 points to 1.300.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 522 to 518 and 120 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was up 3.88% to 12.57.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.95% or 14.45 to $1529.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.65% or 0.38 to hit $58.47 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.15% or 0.10 to trade at $64.42 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.02% to 0.7540, while CAD/EUR rose 0.07% to 0.6861.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 98.255.
