Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, IT and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 1.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Dye & Durham Ltd (TSX:DND), which rose 22.44% or 4.49 points to trade at 24.50 at the close. Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:EFR) added 9.86% or 0.75 points to end at 8.36 and Docebo Inc (TSX:DCBO) was up 8.58% or 3.37 points to 42.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IAMGold Corporation (TSX:IMG), which lost 3.21% or 0.09 points to trade at 2.71 in late trade. Alimentation Couche Tard Inc (TSX:ATD) declined 1.80% or 1.06 points to end at 57.90 and Metro Inc . (TSX:MRU) shed 1.59% or 1.13 points to 69.81.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 827 to 214 and 91 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 7.21% to 22.14.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.04% or 0.74 to $1,813.26 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.27% or 2.54 to hit $109.28 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.49% or 2.85 to trade at $111.39 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 0.78, while CAD/EUR fell 0.86% to 0.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.77% at 103.40.
