Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, IT and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 1.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb), which rose 24.39% or 0.300 points to trade at 1.530 at the close. Aurora Cannabis Inc (TSX:ACB) added 13.20% or 0.330 points to end at 2.830 and First Quantum Minerals Ltd . (TSX:FM) was up 10.66% or 1.13 points to 11.73 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eldorado Gold Corp (TSX:ELD), which lost 8.99% or 0.87 points to trade at 8.81 in late trade. Wesdome Gold Mines Ltd. (TSX:WDO) declined 6.26% or 0.56 points to end at 8.38 and Semafo Inc . (TSX:SMF) shed 5.97% or 0.160 points to 2.520.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 641 to 405 and 285 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.62% or 25.65 to $1557.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.58% or 0.29 to hit $49.62 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.37% or 0.20 to trade at $54.01 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.03% to 0.7528, while CAD/EUR rose 0.20% to 0.6816.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 97.805.
