Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Industrials, IT and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.55% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Boyd Group Income Fund (TO:BYD_u), which rose 9.16% or 11.84 points to trade at 141.13 at the close. BRP Inc (TO:DOO) added 7.03% or 2.53 points to end at 38.51 and Crescent Point Energy Corp . (TO:CPG) was up 6.88% or 0.30 points to 4.66 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Martinrea International Inc . (TO:MRE), which lost 3.32% or 0.43 points to trade at 12.54 in late trade. Semafo Inc . (TO:SMF) declined 3.02% or 0.12 points to end at 3.86 and Cronos Group Inc (TO:CRON) shed 2.90% or 0.8200 points to 27.4700.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 604 to 472 and 123 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 3.56% to 12.72.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.54% or 7.05 to $1308.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.58% or 0.35 to hit $59.88 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.18% or 0.81 to trade at $67.69 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.50% to 0.7478, while CAD/EUR fell 0.13% to 0.6574.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.72% at 95.882.
