Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Healthcare, Clean Technology and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were AcuityAds Holdings Inc (TSX:AT), which rose 7.32% or 1.000 points to trade at 14.660 at the close. Ballard Power Systems Inc (TSX:BLDP) added 7.04% or 1.79 points to end at 27.21 and Village Farms International Inc (TSX:VFF) was up 4.87% or 0.66 points to 14.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Torex Gold Resources Inc (TSX:TXG), which lost 3.35% or 0.57 points to trade at 16.47 in late trade. Ero Copper Corp (TSX:ERO) declined 3.09% or 0.73 points to end at 23.07 and Aecon Group Inc . (TSX:ARE) shed 2.77% or 0.53 points to 18.57.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 626 to 383 and 123 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.35% or 6.20 to $1775.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.29% or 0.79 to hit $62.22 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.16% or 0.76 to trade at $66.16 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.31% to 0.8020, while CAD/EUR fell 0.34% to 0.6631.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.56% at 90.808.
