Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrials, Energy and Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite gained 0.21% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were ATS Corporation (TSX:ATS), which rose 7.23% or 2.95 points to trade at 43.75 at the close. Aya Gold & Silver Inc (TSX:AYA) added 5.09% or 0.65 points to end at 13.41 and Finning International Inc . (TSX:FTT) was up 3.04% or 1.12 points to 37.92 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Storagevault Canada Inc (TSX:SVI), which lost 3.84% or 0.16 points to trade at 4.01 in late trade. Celestica Inc. (TSX:CLS) declined 2.59% or 3.31 points to end at 124.54 and Bausch Health Companies Inc (TSX:BHC) shed 2.45% or 0.28 points to 11.17.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 563 to 387 and 83 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 2.19% to 10.72.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.36% or 36.40 to $2,711.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.67% or 1.17 to hit $71.27 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.27% or 0.94 to trade at $75.17 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.53% to 0.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.49% at 107.46.
