Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Technology, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Sofina (BR:SOF), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to trade at 124.75 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) fell 0.03% or 0.020 points to end at 69.960 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was down 0.13% or 0.050 points to 38.265 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 9.58% or 4.47 points to trade at 42.23 in late trade. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) declined 4.92% or 1.56 points to end at 30.23 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 2.13% or 0.63 points to 29.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 74 to 34 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.71% or 8.93 to $1268.93 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.49% or 0.73 to hit $49.77 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.06% or 1.06 to trade at $52.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.62% to 1.1749, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8952.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 93.23.
