Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumption and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 2.98%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 4.12% or 1.32 points to trade at 33.37 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 2.77% or 0.36 points to end at 13.35 and Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) was up 1.57% or 0.27 points to 17.52 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which lost 7.22% or 1.19 points to trade at 15.30 in late trade. Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) declined 6.85% or 2.45 points to end at 33.31 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) shed 6.26% or 1.94 points to 29.07.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 210 to 120 and 32 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.00% to 38.84.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.24% or 2.80 to $1188.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.76% or 1.77 to hit $45.31 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 2.62% or 4.11 to trade at $152.82 .
USD/BRL was up 0.38% to 3.3986, while EUR/BRL rose 0.68% to 3.6178.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 101.01.
