Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which rose 3.91% or 0.16 points to trade at 4.25 at the close. EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3) added 3.81% or 0.40 points to end at 10.90 and Even Construtora e Incorporadora SA (SA:EVEN3) was up 2.42% or 0.08 points to 3.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3), which lost 4.82% or 0.84 points to trade at 16.58 in late trade. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) declined 3.88% or 0.82 points to end at 20.34 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) shed 2.95% or 0.24 points to 7.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 176 to 105 and 11 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.33% to 32.01.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.54% or 6.40 to $1185.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.55% or 0.33 to hit $60.07 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 3.08% or 4.05 to trade at $127.58 .
USD/BRL was up 0.18% to 3.1260, while EUR/BRL rose 0.29% to 3.5267.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 95.06.
