Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Consumption and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.40% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Embraer SA (BVMF:EMBR3), which rose 3.01% or 1.17 points to trade at 39.98 at the close. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:MRVE3) added 1.02% or 0.07 points to end at 6.92 and WEG SA (BVMF:WEGE3) was up 0.58% or 0.22 points to 38.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:MGLU3), which lost 7.80% or 0.97 points to trade at 11.47 in late trade. Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF:COGN3) declined 6.59% or 0.12 points to end at 1.70 and Dexco SA (BVMF:DXCO3) shed 4.62% or 0.32 points to 6.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 571 to 386 and 40 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.05% to 28.15.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.56% or 13.00 to $2,339.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.62% or 0.48 to hit $78.38 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.40% or 3.08 to trade at $223.63 .
USD/BRL was up 0.83% to 5.41, while EUR/BRL rose 1.42% to 5.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.85% at 104.30.
