Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Electric Power, Consumption and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.28%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 3.65% or 0.79 points to trade at 22.45 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 3.52% or 0.90 points to end at 26.45 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was up 2.33% or 1.21 points to 53.07 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which lost 5.01% or 1.55 points to trade at 29.40 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 4.46% or 0.45 points to end at 9.65 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) shed 4.12% or 0.78 points to 18.15.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 255 to 139 and 49 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 7.15% to 29.97.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.21% or 2.73 to $1283.23 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $51.86 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.62% or 0.77 to trade at $124.40 .
USD/BRL was up 0.00% to 3.2380, while EUR/BRL rose 0.01% to 3.8043.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 93.72.
