Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Electric Power, Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.09% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Hypera SA (BVMF:HYPE3), which rose 3.32% or 0.60 points to trade at 18.65 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (BVMF:SUZB3) added 2.72% or 1.62 points to end at 61.24 and IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3) was up 2.42% or 0.91 points to 38.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Automob Participações SA (BVMF:AMOB3), which lost 19.05% or 0.08 points to trade at 0.34 in late trade. Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4) declined 9.34% or 0.34 points to end at 3.30 and Brava Energia SA (BVMF:BRAV3) shed 7.67% or 1.59 points to 19.13.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 581 to 379 and 38 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.78% to 36.02.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.64% or 16.84 to $2,628.26 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.19% or 0.13 to hit $69.59 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.26% or 0.86 to trade at $325.86 .
USD/BRL was up 1.80% to 6.20, while EUR/BRL rose 0.98% to 6.45.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.46% at 107.84.
