Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3), which rose 4.71% or 0.90 points to trade at 20.00 at the close. Fleury SA (SA:FLRY3) added 3.26% or 0.89 points to end at 28.15 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was up 1.93% or 0.35 points to 18.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6), which lost 4.12% or 0.84 points to trade at 19.56 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 4.02% or 0.71 points to end at 16.94 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) shed 3.95% or 0.50 points to 12.15.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 241 to 159 and 46 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.32% to 31.15.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.39% or 5.10 to $1318.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.71% or 0.45 to hit $63.41 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.80% or 1.00 to trade at $124.08 .
USD/BRL was down 0.61% to 3.2287, while EUR/BRL fell 0.44% to 3.8605.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 92.06.
