Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 3.55% or 1.38 points to trade at 40.28 at the close. Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) added 2.44% or 0.44 points to end at 18.45 and RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) was up 2.11% or 0.24 points to 11.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which lost 4.72% or 3.76 points to trade at 75.90 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 4.67% or 0.39 points to end at 7.97 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) shed 4.52% or 1.09 points to 23.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 244 to 159 and 38 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.27% to 32.75 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.19% or 15.49 to $1286.21 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.29% or 0.15 to hit $52.03 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 2.23% or 2.95 to trade at $129.32 .
USD/BRL was up 0.84% to 3.1925, while EUR/BRL rose 0.49% to 3.7516.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 93.23.
