Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumption, Electric Power and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.33% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Itau Unibanco Banco Holding SA (BVMF:ITUB4), which rose 2.63% or 0.82 points to trade at 31.96 at the close. B3 SA Brasil Bolsa Balcao (BVMF:B3SA3) added 1.64% or 0.17 points to end at 10.54 and Cvc Brasil ON (BVMF:CVCB3) was up 1.49% or 0.03 points to 2.04 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rede D’Or São Luiz SA (BVMF:RDOR3), which lost 5.35% or 1.44 points to trade at 25.49 in late trade. Braskem SA (BVMF:BRKM5) declined 5.27% or 0.97 points to end at 17.44 and YDUQS Participacoes SA (BVMF:YDUQ3) shed 4.01% or 0.45 points to 10.77.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 509 to 433 and 41 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.88% to 27.52.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.66% or 15.50 to $2,333.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.23% or 1.74 to hit $79.79 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.91% or 2.05 to trade at $226.45 .
USD/BRL was up 0.84% to 5.42, while EUR/BRL rose 1.44% to 5.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 104.96.
