Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Electric Power and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which rose 4.23% or 1.02 points to trade at 25.16 at the close. Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) added 3.27% or 0.46 points to end at 14.52 and Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) was up 3.23% or 2.49 points to 79.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3), which lost 9.88% or 7.90 points to trade at 72.10 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) declined 4.51% or 1.28 points to end at 27.09 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) shed 3.56% or 1.16 points to 31.42.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 207 to 169 and 39 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.88% to 31.11.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.67% or 8.90 to $1326.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.01% or 1.26 to hit $61.34 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.21% or 0.25 to trade at $120.72 .
USD/BRL was up 1.07% to 3.2454, while EUR/BRL rose 1.11% to 4.0282.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 89.55.
