Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Financials and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11), which rose 2.33% or 0.39 points to trade at 17.10 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 2.17% or 0.32 points to end at 15.06 and RUMO Logistica Operadora Multimodal SA (SA:RAIL3) was up 2.07% or 0.16 points to 7.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which lost 3.69% or 0.66 points to trade at 17.25 in late trade. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 2.72% or 0.19 points to end at 6.80 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) shed 2.43% or 0.31 points to 12.45.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 193 to 159 and 36 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 11.19% to 33.19.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.04% or 0.45 to $1268.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.22% or 0.10 to hit $45.98 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.79% or 1.00 to trade at $126.38 .
USD/BRL was down 0.23% to 3.3084, while EUR/BRL fell 0.17% to 3.7085.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 96.98.
