Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which rose 4.07% or 0.28 points to trade at 7.16 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 3.27% or 0.55 points to end at 17.39 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was up 3.06% or 0.33 points to 11.13 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which lost 5.41% or 0.40 points to trade at 6.99 in late trade. Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) declined 3.46% or 1.16 points to end at 32.34 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) shed 2.84% or 0.60 points to 20.55.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 135 to 133 and 22 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.99% to 36.36 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.07% or 0.90 to $1246.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.49% or 0.74 to hit $50.43 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.24% or 0.32 to trade at $131.92 .
USD/BRL was down 1.18% to 3.4482, while EUR/BRL fell 1.15% to 3.9164.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 93.86.
