Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3), which rose 10.02% or 2.48 points to trade at 27.22 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) added 8.16% or 1.87 points to end at 24.78 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was up 6.66% or 0.51 points to 8.17 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4), which lost 9.25% or 1.56 points to trade at 15.30 in late trade. Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) declined 6.18% or 0.98 points to end at 14.87 and Smiles Fidelidade SA (SA:SMLS3) shed 4.57% or 3.15 points to 65.81.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 229 to 201 and 34 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.88% to 28.22.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.08% or 1.00 to $1312.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.13% or 2.16 to hit $71.22 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.79% or 0.95 to trade at $118.72 .
USD/BRL was up 0.82% to 3.5930, while EUR/BRL rose 0.78% to 4.2592.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 92.95.
