Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:PCAR3), which rose 9.12% or 0.27 points to trade at 3.23 at the close. Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF:MRFG3) added 7.46% or 1.02 points to end at 14.69 and Embraer SA (BVMF:EMBR3) was up 5.79% or 2.69 points to 49.11 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IRB Brasil Resseguros SA (BVMF:IRBR3), which lost 6.27% or 3.26 points to trade at 48.70 in late trade. 3R Petroleum Oleo E Gas Sa (BVMF:RRRP3) declined 3.22% or 0.82 points to end at 24.65 and Caixa Seguridade Participacoes SA (BVMF:CXSE3) shed 2.69% or 0.44 points to 15.94.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 555 to 381 and 69 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.93% to 27.49.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.10% or 2.55 to $2,525.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.99% or 1.40 to hit $68.94 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.05% or 0.12 to trade at $242.92 .
USD/BRL was down 0.12% to 5.64, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.08% to 6.24.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 101.25.
