Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.55%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 22.75% or 0.38 points to trade at 2.05 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) added 5.73% or 0.110 points to end at 2.030 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was up 5.55% or 0.37 points to 7.04 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which lost 3.17% or 0.32 points to trade at 9.76 in late trade. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) declined 2.38% or 0.29 points to end at 11.91 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) shed 2.23% or 0.63 points to 27.57.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 157 to 139 and 21 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.01% to 42.49.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.57% or 7.40 to $1295.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.04% or 0.99 to hit $47.50 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 2.08% or 2.82 to trade at $138.32 .
USD/BRL was down 0.38% to 3.4689, while EUR/BRL rose 0.25% to 3.9107.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.39% at 94.66.
