Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumption and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.40% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Grupo Vamos SA (BVMF:VAMO3), which rose 8.18% or 0.66 points to trade at 8.73 at the close. Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF:PCAR3) added 7.69% or 0.21 points to end at 2.94 and Lojas Renner SA (BVMF:LREN3) was up 6.44% or 0.80 points to 13.23 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CSN Mineracao SA (BVMF:CMIN3), which lost 1.62% or 0.09 points to trade at 5.45 in late trade. Raia Drogasil SA (BVMF:RADL3) declined 1.61% or 0.41 points to end at 25.19 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (BVMF:PETR4) shed 1.43% or 0.54 points to 37.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 517 to 356 and 56 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.86% to 27.38.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.17% or 4.10 to $2,365.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.21% or 0.18 to hit $84.06 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.65% or 3.75 to trade at $223.55 .
USD/BRL was down 1.25% to 5.49, while EUR/BRL fell 1.22% to 5.93.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 104.82.
