Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Petroreconcavo SA (BVMF:RECV3), which rose 4.91% or 0.88 points to trade at 18.81 at the close. Sao Martinho SA (BVMF:SMTO3) added 4.19% or 1.33 points to end at 33.09 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais SA USIMINAS Pref (BVMF:USIM5) was up 3.81% or 0.28 points to 7.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Azul SA Pref (BVMF:AZUL4), which lost 3.72% or 0.30 points to trade at 7.76 in late trade. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (BVMF:MRVE3) declined 3.64% or 0.25 points to end at 6.61 and Magazine Luiza SA (BVMF:MGLU3) shed 3.52% or 0.39 points to 10.69.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 471 to 464 and 53 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.02% to 27.72.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.08% or 25.25 to $2,372.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.77% or 0.62 to hit $81.33 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 1.41% or 3.20 to trade at $229.45 .
USD/BRL was up 0.29% to 5.45, while EUR/BRL unchanged 0.01% to 5.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 105.31.
