Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumption, Electric Power and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which rose 15.19% or 0.43 points to trade at 3.26 at the close. Souza Cruz SA (SA:CRUZ3) added 12.86% or 3.01 points to end at 26.42 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was up 4.93% or 0.29 points to 6.17 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which lost 5.01% or 0.43 points to trade at 8.16 in late trade. Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) declined 4.56% or 0.86 points to end at 17.98 and Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3) shed 3.61% or 0.56 points to 14.96.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 185 to 132 and 1 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.20% to 40.53.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.05% or 0.60 to $1152.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.20% or 0.08 to hit $40.78 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.43% or 1.93 to trade at $132.70 .
USD/BRL was down 0.89% to 3.4619, while EUR/BRL rose 0.14% to 3.8904.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 95.75.
