Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Sao Martinho SA (BVMF:SMTO3), which rose 4.07% or 1.15 points to trade at 29.40 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (BVMF:SUZB3) added 2.40% or 1.17 points to end at 49.82 and Vibra Energia SA (BVMF:VBBR3) was up 2.31% or 0.48 points to 21.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Grupo de Moda Soma Sa (BVMF:SOMA3), which lost 5.00% or 0.30 points to trade at 5.70 in late trade. Arezzo Industria e Comercio SA (BVMF:ARZZ3) declined 4.00% or 2.02 points to end at 48.47 and Vivara Participacoes SA (BVMF:VIVA3) shed 3.54% or 0.77 points to 20.96.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 505 to 427 and 57 ended unchanged on the B3 Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 7.78% to 29.10.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.10% or 2.40 to $2,327.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 3.16% or 2.39 to hit $77.92 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 1.19% or 2.67 to trade at $222.13 .
USD/BRL was up 0.15% to 5.35, while EUR/BRL rose 0.66% to 5.76.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 104.73.
