Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which rose 1.92% or 2.30 points to trade at 122.35 at the close. Befimmo-Sicafi (BR:BEFB) added 1.21% or 0.660 points to end at 55.360 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) was up 0.55% or 0.17 points to 30.82 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which lost 5.05% or 0.28 points to trade at 5.30 in late trade. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 2.27% or 0.32 points to end at 13.80 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 1.52% or 0.755 points to 48.770.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 54 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 1.09% or 13.60 to $1231.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.74% or 1.02 to hit $36.16 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.66% or 1.05 to trade at $38.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1111, while EUR/GBP rose 1.08% to 0.7850.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 96.64.
